  • The passage of Tropical cyclone LUBAN from 8 to 14 October has caused flooding in the coastal district of Al Maharah Governorate in Yemen and in several areas of the border with Oman.
  • According to media reports, as of 17 October, three people died, 33 are injured and 2 000 families were affected in Al-Maharah (Yemen). 
  • Over the next 24 hours, moderate to locally heavy rain over south-west Yemen and the coastal governorates may continue to affect the country, including the areas already flooded.

  • Tropical cyclone LUBAN continued moving north-west over the Gulf of Aden slightly weakening. On 12 October at 0.00 UTC its centre was located 780 km east from the city of Qusay'ir (Yemen) and it had maximum sustained winds of 93 km/h (tropical storm). 
  • Over the next 24 hours, it is forecast to move over the north-east of Yemen and may make landfall on 14 October morning UTC as a tropical storm. Heavy rain, strong winds and storm surge may affect southern Oman, north-eastern and central Yemen including the Socotra Archipelago (Yemen).

  • Tropical cyclone LUBAN continued moving north-west over the West Central Arabian Sea. On 10 October at 0.00 UTC its centre was located 644 km south-east from the city of Salalah (Oman) and it had maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h (equivalent to Category 1 in the Saffir Simpson Scale). 
  •  Over the next 48 hours, it is forecast to keep moving north-west over the Gulf of Aden toward the north-eastern parts of Yemen slightly strengthening. Heavy rain and strong wind may affect south-west Oman and north-east Yemen.
