  • Two wildfire events named the Middle Fork and the Marshall wildfires have been burning across northern Colorado State (western USA), resulting in casualties and damage.
  • According to media reports, at least two people are missing in Boulder County (outskirts of Denver City), while one injured person has been confirmed by the US Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA). About 45,000 people have been evacuated in Boulder County, while nearly 600 houses and buildings have been destroyed. 
  • As of 3 January, the wildfires have burnt an area of approximately 10,751 hectares and are still active.
  • According to the USGS and the U.S. Forest Service, the fire danger forecast is expected to be high on 3-4 January over central and eastern Colorado.
