Hurricane Dorian, Caribbean and USA, August to September 2019Hurricane Dorian caused flooding and power outages in parts of the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on 28 August as the storm passed over the northern Caribbean with maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h. On 01 to 02 September the storm passed over the Bahamas with maximum sustained winds as high is 295 km/h and, according to media reports, storm surge of up to 7 metres in parts of the Abaco Islands, causing widespread fatalities and damage.

On 06 September Dorian passed over the Outer Banks islands of North Carolina, USA. Storm surge caused severe flooding in Ocracoke where around 800 people were trapped.

By 08 September Dorian had reached the east coast of Canada, bringing heavy rain to parts of Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
