Northwest Territories, Canada, May 2021On 07 May 2021 the town of Hay River in the Northwest Territories issued an evacuation order for about 200 households in Vale Island due to a threat of flooding. The town also declared a state of emergency. Officials said ice breakup on a river that runs through the community was imminent and residents of Vale Island and West Channel should prepare to evacuate on short notice. Evacuation orders were also issued for residents of Fort Simpson on 09 May after levels along the Mackenzie River had reached 15 metres. Local authorities said 700 people had evacuated as of 10 May. Around 22 homes were damaged in Jean Marie River after flooding from the Mackenzie River.Tue 11 May 2021FloodList provided by Copernicus GLOFAS
