Overview. An earthquake with a 5.9 magnitude, at a depth of 40 km struck Tanzania near the Uganda border on the 10th September 2016 at 15:27 local time. The main shock epicentre was located at about 40 km northwest of Bukoba city in Kagera region located around the Victoria Lake area.
