Indonesia tackles forest fires

Jakarta (VNA) – The number of forest fires in Indonesia has increased remarkably over the last week, mainly on Sumatra islands. According to the Indonesia Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Board (BMKD), 42 forest fire sites were discovered in the country, an increase of 13 fires since an announcement on March 18.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 (Bernama) -- A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale occured in Molucca Sea at 5.18pm today. According to a statement issued by the Department of Meteorology (MET), the earthquake's epicentre was 165km northeast of Bitung, Indonesia and 891km southeast of Semporna, Sabah.

KUALA LUMPUR, March 29 (Bernama) -- A moderate earthquake with a magnitude of 5.3 on the Richter scale occured in southern Sumatera at 2.24pm today. According to a statement issued by the Department of Meteorology (MET), the earthquake's epicentre was 90km northwest of Bengkulu, Indonesia and 521km southwest of Pontian, Johor.
