  • Tropical cyclone RILEY continued west-south-west off the coast of north west coast of Western Australia State. On 25 January, at 0.00 UTC, its centre was located approx. 385 km north of Port Hedland Town (Pilbara Region, Western Australia), with maximum sustained winds of 102 km/h (tropical storm).
  • Over the next 48 hours, it is forecast to continue moving west-south-west, along the coastal areas of Pilabara and northern Gascoyne Regions, strengthening, with maximum sustained winds up to 120 km/h.
  • Heavy rainfall, strong winds and thunderstorms are forecast over the coastal areas of Pilabara and northern Gascoyne Regions. The Australian Bureau of Meteorology has issued a warning zone for gales over coastal areas of Pilabara over the next 24 hours.

  • Tropical cyclone RILEY, which formed in the Timor Sea on 19 January, started moving south-west towards the north-west coast of western Australia. On 24 January, at 0.00 UTC, its centre was located approximately 170 km north-west of Broome City, in the Dampier Peninsula (south-west of Kimberley Region), with maximum sustained winds of 74 km/h (tropical storm).
  • Over the next 24 hours, it is forecast to continue moving west-south-west, along the Pilabara Coast, strengthening, with maximum sustained winds up to 110 km/h.
  • RILEY is expected to bring rain and strong winds to the Pilabara Coast, specifically in the cities of Broome, Port Hedland, Onslow and Exmouth.
