  • Tropical Cyclone TREVOR continued moving south-west over the Gulf of Carpentaria, toward the eastern coast of Northern Territory, strengthening. On 22 March at 0.00, it had maximum sustained winds of 139 km/h. The state of emergency has been declared for the Northern Territory.
  • According to media, as of 22 March at 8.00 UTC, around 600 people were evacuated from Groote Eylandt Island and several people were evacuated from Borroloola village (close to Port McArthur). 
  • TREVOR is expected to strengthen and make landfall over Port McArthur area on 22 March late in the evening (UTC) or 23 March very early in the morning (UTC), with maximum sustained winds up to 165 km/h.
  • Heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surge are forecast over north-western Queensland and eastern Northern Territory on 23-24 March. The Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) has issued a Warning Zone for Gales over these areas for the next 24 hours.

  • Tropical Cyclone TREVOR continued moving south-west over the Gulf of Carpentaria, close to Cape York Peninsula. On 21 March at 0.00 its centre was located approximately 580 km north-east of Port McArthur with maximum sustained winds of 83 km/h.
  • As of 21 March at 8.00 UTC, a number of preventive evacuations were ordered across the eastern coast of the Northern Territory.
  • It will continue over the Gulf of Carpentaria reaching the eastern coast of Northern Territory on 22-23 March, with maximum sustained winds up to 190 km/h.
  • Heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surge are forecast for western Cape York Peninsula on 21-22 March and over eastern Northern Territory on 22-23 March. Moderate rainfall and winds could also affect southern Papua New Guinea.
  • A Warning Zone is in effect for Gales over the north-western Cape York Peninsula and Groote Eylandt Island for the next 24 hours.

  • Tropical Cyclone TREVOR made landfall over Cape York Peninsula (Queensland, Australia) in the morning of 19 March. On 20 March at 0.00, its centre was approximately 50 km north-east of Aurukun Town, with maximum sustained winds up to 120 km/h.
  • It may strengthen over the Gulf of Carpentaria before approaching the eastern coast of Northern Territory on 23 March.
  • Communities in Lockhart River and Coen have no power.
  • Strong winds, heavy rains and storm surge are forecast across western coast of Cape York Peninsula.
  • In Papua New Guinea, strong wind warnings were issued for coastal areas between Torres Strait and Gulf of Papua.

  • Tropical Cyclone TREVOR, continued south-west towards the eastern coast of Cape York Peninsula (Queensland, Australia). On 19 March at 0.00, its centre was approximately 90 km east of Lockhart River Town (Far North Queensland), with maximum sustained winds up to 176 km/h.
  • It is expected to make landfall south of Lockhart River on the morning of 19 March, with maximum sustained winds up to 150 km/h, crosssing Cape York Peninsula, before reaching the Gulf of Carpentaria on 20 March.
  • Strong winds, heavy rain and storm surge of max 1.5 metres are forecast for northern Cape York Peninsula between 19-20 March.
  • In Papua New Guinea, a strong wind warning was issued for coastal areas between Torres Strait and Gulf of Papua.
