  • Tropical Depression IMELDA, formed in the Gulf of Mexico on 17 September, is moving north across eastern Texas. On 18 September at 3.00 UTC, its centre was over Houston, with maximum sustained winds of 56 km/h (tropical depression).
  • IMELDA will continue northward across eastern Texas dissipating but bringing heavy rain.
  • Over the next 24 hours, heavy rain is expected over south-east Texas and a flash flood watch is in effect for Houston area.
