Portugal - Severe weather, update (ECHO 09 Dec 2022)

Heavy rainfall and strong winds continue to hit Portugal, particularly the Lisbon metropolitan area, over the past few days, causing floods and resulting in casualties and damage. The most affected municipalities are Oeiras, Sintra, Odivelas, Loures and Lisboa and the areas of Alcântara, Campo Grande, Campo Pequeno and Baixa.
According to media reports, at least one person died in Algés village (Oeiras Municipality, Lisbon metropolitan area) following a flood event. Previously on 6 December, Algarve Region has also been affected by heavy rainfall and floods, mostly in the municipalities of Faro, Loulé, Tavira and Albufeira.
On 9-10 December, moderate to heavy rain is expected across most parts of the country, particularly over central Portugal.
