DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 400 AM ChST...1800 UTC...the center of Tropical Depression 27W was located near latitude 12.1 degrees North and longitude 149.9 degrees East...moving west at 10 mph. Tropical Depression 27W is expected to continue moving slowly toward the west-northwest the next couple of days. The latest forecast maintains a weaker 27W as it heads toward the Marianas, but there is still much uncertainty concerning the storm motion and intensity in the short term. Maximum sustained winds remain at 35 mph, but 27W is forecast to strengthen to a tropical storm again later today. Additional slow intensification is expected through Monday.
