About  575 miles south-southeast of Okinawa



Maximum sustained winds...50 mph

Present movement...northwest...310 degrees at 10 mph.



DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

----------------------

At 700 PM ChST...0900 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Saola was

located near latitude 18.9 degrees North and longitude 131.7 degrees

East...moving northwest at 10 mph. Tropical Storm Saola is expected

to continue northwest through Friday, turn north on Saturday, then

recurve to the northeast Sunday south of Japan.



Maximum sustained winds remain at 50 mph. Saola is expected to resume

slow intensification overnight, and may become a typhoon on Saturday

before starting to weaken on Sunday.



Tropical storm force winds extend up to 150 miles from the center.
