<ul> <li>A new Tropical Cyclone named FAKIR formed on 23 April over the south-western Indian Ocean, north-northeast of Madagascar, and started moving towards La R&eacute;union (France) and Mauritius.&nbsp;</li> <li>FAKIR could pass near the eastern coast of La R&eacute;union on 24 April in the morning (UTC) as an intense Tropical Storm, with maximum sustained winds of 100-110 km/h. It is then forecast to continue moving southeastward over the Indian Ocean, away from La R&eacute;union and Mauritius, weakening. </li> <li>Over the next 48 hours, heavy rains, strong winds, thunderstorms and storm surge could affect La R&eacute;union and Mauritius. M&eacute;t&eacute;o France La R&eacute;union has issued an alert for heavy rain, strong wind and high waves for most of the Island.
