Tropical Cyclone SALLY is moving north-west over the Gulf of Mexico. On 14 September, its centre was located 178 km south-east of the Mississippi Delta with maximum sustained wind of 93 km/h (tropical storm).
SALLY is forecast to continue over the Gulf of Mexico today, to approach the northern Gulf Coast area as a Category 1 hurricane on 15 September and to move over the south-western coast of Mississippi on 15-16 September.
For the next 24 hours, heavy rain, strong wind and storm surge are forecast over most parts of central-northern Gulf Coast area.
A Storm Surge Warning is in effect from Port Fourchon (Louisiana) to the Alabama/Florida border, for Lake Pontchartrain, Lake Maurepas, Lake Borgne and Mobile Bay. A Hurricane Warning from Morgan City (Louisiana) to the Mississippi/Alabama border, for Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas including New Orleans.
A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued from Mississippi/Alabama border to Indian Pass Florida and from Intracoastal City to west of Morgan City (Louisiana).
