DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK

At 500 PM HST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Lester was

located near latitude 26.6 North, longitude 161.5 West. Lester is

moving toward the northwest near 17 mph (28 km/h) and this motion is

expected to continue through tonight. Lester is forecast to

gradually turn toward the north at a slower forward speed Monday

night and Tuesday.



Maximum sustained winds are near 50 mph (85 km/h) with higher gusts.

Little change in strength is forecast during the next 48 hours.



Tropical storm force winds extend outward up to 140 miles (220 km)

from the center.



The estimated minimum central pressure is 1002 mb (29.59 inches).
