SUMMARY OF 100 PM CHST...0300 UTC...INFORMATION ---------------------------------------------- Location...15.0N 144.6E About 105 miles north of Guam About 75 miles north-northwest of Rota About 65 miles west of Tinian About 75 miles west of Saipan Maximum sustained winds...30 mph Present movement...west-northwest...300 degrees at 21 mph DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 100 PM CHST...0300 UTC...the ill-defined center of Tropical Depression 20W was relocated near latitude 15.0 North and longitude 144.6 East, moving west-northwest at 21 mph. Tropical Depression 20W is expected to continue on a west to west-northwest track at a slower forward speed for the next few days. Maximum sustained winds remain at 30 mph. Tropical Depression 20W is forecast to intensify slowly, and is expected to become a tropical storm by Sunday morning well west of the Marianas. HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- Damaging winds are not expected in the Marianas, but Saipan and Tinian will have gusty winds this afternoon, with peak gusts as high as 35 mph. Rainfall will be locally heavy, mainly for Guam and Rota, where 2 to 3 inches may fall this afternoon and tonight. For Tinian and Saipan, an inch or less of additional rain is expected.
