DISCUSSION AND 48-HOUR OUTLOOK ------------------------------ At 900 PM MDT (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Norma was located near latitude 21.7 North, longitude 113.7 West. Norma is moving toward the west-northwest near 7 mph (11 km/h), and this general motion is expected to continue on Tuesday with a gradual turn to the northwest thereafter. Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts. Weakening is forecast during the next 48 hours. Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 70 miles (110 km) from the center. The estimated minimum central pressure is 1005 mb (29.68 inches). HAZARDS AFFECTING LAND ---------------------- SURF: Swells generated by Norma are affecting portions of the coast of southwestern Mexico and Baja California Sur and will continue into Tuesday.
