WTAU01 ABRF 100353 IDQ20008 SECURITE UPDATED OCEAN WIND WARNING FOR METAREA 10 Issued by the Australian Bureau of Meteorology Tropical Cyclone Warning Centre at 0353 UTC 10 JANUARY 2026 UPDATED STORM FORCE WIND WARNING FOR NORTH EASTERN AREA SITUATION At 0300 UTC a Tropical Low was centred within 35 nautical miles of latitude seventeen decimal one south (17.1S) longitude one hundred and forty seven decimal seven east (147.7E) Recent movement : south at 9 knots Maximum winds : 50 knots Central pressure: 990 hPa The low is expected to develop into a tropical cyclone in the next 6 hours. AREA AFFECTED Within 180 nautical miles in NE quadrant and within 120 nautical miles in SE quadrant and within 100 nautical miles in SW quadrant and within 45 nautical miles in NW quadrant. FORECAST Maximum winds to 50 knots near the centre. Winds above 48 knots within 150 nautical miles in NE quadrant and within 60 nautical miles in SE quadrant from 1200 UTC 10 January with very rough seas and moderate to heavy swell. Winds above 34 knots within 180 nautical miles in NE quadrant and within 120 nautical miles in SE quadrant and within 100 nautical miles in SW quadrant from 0600 UTC 10 January and within 45 nautical miles in NW quadrant from 1200 UTC 10 January with rough seas and moderate swell.
