CHANGES WITH THIS ADVISORY -------------------------- Sinlaku is now a super typhoon. WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- A Typhoon Warning remains in effect for Rota, Tinian, and Saipan. A Typhoon Warning remains in effect for Fananu in Chuuk State. A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Guam. A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Ulul in Chuuk State. A Tropical Storm Watch remains in effect for Pagan and Alamagan. A Typhoon Watch remains in effect for Ulul in Chuuk State. A Typhoon Watch remains in effect for Guam. Residents of Agrihan should carefully monitor the progress of Super Typhoon Sinlaku. SUMMARY OF 700 PM CHST...0900 UTC...INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------- Location...10.6N 150.3E About 145 miles north-northeast of Ulul About 190 miles northwest of Fananu About 240 miles north-northwest of Chuuk About 420 miles east-southeast of Guam About 420 miles southeast of Rota About 435 miles southeast of Tinian About 440 miles southeast of Saipan Maximum sustained winds...150 mph Present movement...northwest...310 degrees at 9 mph DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 700 PM CHST...0900 UTC...the center of Super Typhoon Sinlaku was located near Latitude 10.6 degrees North and Longitude 150.3 degrees East. Sinlaku is moving northwest at 9 mph. It is expected to maintain this general course and speed through through Monday night as it heads towards the Marianas. The onset of tropical storm force winds are expected to reach Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan Monday night. Typhoon force winds are expected to start reaching Rota, Tinian, and Saipan Tuesday. Maximum sustained winds have increased to 150 mph. Sinlaku is forecast to intensify through Monday. Sinlaku may move into the Marianas as a category 4 or 5 typhoon. Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to 60 miles. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 245 miles.
