SUMMARY OF 400 AM CHST...1800 UTC...INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------- Location...11.7N 149.5E About 215 miles north of Ulul About 285 miles northwest of Fananu About 335 miles north-northwest of Chuuk About 335 miles east-southeast of Rota About 340 miles east-southeast of Guam About 345 miles southeast of Tinian About 345 miles southeast of Saipan Maximum sustained winds...175 mph Present movement...north-northwest...335 degrees at 10 mph DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 400 AM CHST...1800 UTC...the center of Super Typhoon Sinlaku was located near Latitude 11.7 degrees North and Longitude 149.5 degrees East. Sinlaku is moving north-northwest at 10 mph. It is expected to make a slight turn toward the northwest with little change in forward speed through Tuesday. The onset of tropical storm force winds are expected to reach Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan this evening or tonight. Typhoon force winds are expected to start reaching Rota, Tinian, and Saipan Tuesday or Tuesday afternoon. Latest track has continued the slight northward shift in the storm path, with passage near or over Tinian and Saipan. Maximum sustained winds remain at 175 mph. Sinlaku is forecast to maintain this intensity through Tuesday. Sinlaku may move into the Marianas as a category 4 or 5 typhoon. Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to 60 miles. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 275 miles to the northeast and up to 215 miles elsewhere.
