SUMMARY OF 1000 AM CHST...0000 UTC...INFORMATION ----------------------------------------------- Location...12.2N 148.9E About 255 miles north of Ulul About 280 miles east-southeast of Rota About 290 miles east-southeast of Guam About 290 miles southeast of Tinian About 295 miles southeast of Saipan About 385 miles north-northwest of Chuuk About 460 miles south-southeast of Pagan Maximum sustained winds...180 mph Present movement...northwest...305 degrees at 9 mph DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1000 AM CHST...0000 UTC...the center of Super Typhoon Sinlaku was located near Latitude 12.2 degrees North and Longitude 148.9 degrees East. Sinlaku is moving northwest at 9 mph. It is expected to maintain this general course and speed through Tuesday. The onset of tropical storm force winds are expected to reach Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan this evening or tonight. Typhoon force winds are expected to start reaching Rota, Tinian, and Saipan Tuesday or Tuesday afternoon. Latest JTWC forecast track has shifted the storm path slightly southward, with passage still expected near or over Tinian and Saipan. Maximum sustained winds remain at 180 mph. Sinlaku is forecast to gradually weaken through the next several days, still expecting to cross the Marianas near or over Tinian and Saipan as a Category 4 or Category 5 storm. Typhoon force winds extend outward from the center up to 60 miles. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 275 miles to the northeast and up to 215 miles elsewhere.
