At 700 AM CHST...2100 UTC...the center of Tropical Depression
Shanshan was located near Latitude 17.5 degrees North and
Longitude 142.1 degrees East. Shanshan is moving northwest at
7 mph. It is expected to maintain this general course with a
slight decrease in forward speed through Friday.

Maximum sustained winds have increased to 35 mph. Shanshan is
forecast to intensify through tonight possibly becoming a
tropical storm this evening.
