CHANGES WITH THIS ADVISORY -------------------------- The tropical storm warning for Guam, Rota, and adjacent coastal waters has been cancelled. WATCHES AND WARNINGS -------------------- The tropical storm warning for Rota, Guam and their adjacent coastal waters has been canceled. Tropical storm force winds are no longer expected, though strong gusts will persist into the afternoon hours. Folks in Yap State should closely monitor later advisories for Man-yi as it drops a little further south and passes to the north of Yap Thursday. SUMMARY OF 1000 AM CHST...0000 UTC...INFORMATION ------------------------------------------------ Location...12.6N 143.4E About 110 miles west-southwest of Guam About 165 miles southwest of Rota About 225 miles southwest of Tinian About 235 miles southwest of Saipan About 300 miles northeast of Ulithi About 420 miles east-northeast of Yap Maximum sustained winds...50 mph Present movement...southwest...235 degrees at 18 mph DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK ---------------------- At 1000 AM CHST...0000 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm Man-yi was located near Latitude 12.6 degrees North and Longitude 143.4 degrees East. Man-yi continues to move quickly to the southwest at 18 mph. It is expected to make a turn toward the west- southwest later today with little change in forward speed. Man-yi is expected to pass well to the north of Yap on Thursday. Maximum sustained winds remain at 50 mph. Man-yi is forecast to intensify the next couple of days, possibly becoming a typhoon to the north of Yap Thursday. Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to 85 miles.
