A Tropical Storm Watch continues for Agrihan, Pagan, and 
Alamagan.    

A Tropical Storm Watch means that tropical storm conditions, 
including winds of 39 to 73 mph, are possible within 48 hours.

DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 700 PM CHST...0900 UTC...the center of Tropical Depression 16W
was located near Latitude 18.8 degrees North and Longitude
147.5 degrees East. 16W is drifting northwest at 3 mph. It is
expected to gradually turn toward the west-northwest Friday with
an increase in forward speed. The recent northwest motion has
shifted the forecast track a little farther north with an
anticipated passage near Maug Friday evening. 

Maximum sustained winds have increased to 35 mph. 16W is forecast
to maintain this intensity overnight then slowly intensify to a
tropical storm later Friday.

An intermediate advisory will be issued by the National Weather
Service at 1100 PM followed by the next scheduled advisory at 
200 AM early Friday morning.
