DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 400 AM CHST...1800 UTC...the center of Tropical Storm 16W was
located near Latitude 19.4 degrees North and Longitude
146.2 degrees East. 16W is moving west-northwest at 9 mph. It is
expected to maintain this general course and speed through
Saturday. This forecast track will take 16W just north of Maug 
this afternoon. 

Maximum sustained winds remain at 40 mph. 16W is forecast to
intensify through tonight.

Tropical storm force winds extend outward from the center up to
60 miles to the southeast and no tropical storm force winds 
elsewhere.

The next scheduled advisory will be issued by the National
Weather Service at 800 AM ChST early Saturday morning followed by
an intermediate advisory at 1100 AM ChST.
