None. .AREAS AFFECTED... This local statement provides information and recommended actions for people in the far Northern Marianas. .WATCHES/WARNINGS... A Tropical Storm Warning remains in effect for Agrihan, Pagan, and Alamagan. A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions, including winds of 39 to 73 mph, are expected or occurring. Please check the latest public and marine forecasts for detailed information about additional hazards. .STORM INFORMATION... At 7 AM ChST...the center of Tropical Storm Krosa (12W) was located near latitude 18.0N...longitude 143.6E, about 145 miles west of Pagan, 245 miles northwest of Saipan. Storm motion was northwest at 3 mph. Maximum sustained winds remain at 50 mph. .SITUATION OVERVIEW... Tropical Storm Krosa is expected to make a turn to the north- northeast and speed up today, coming near enough to the far northern CNMI to maintain tropical storm force winds at Agrihan, Pagan, and Alamagan. Damaging winds are either imminent or already occurring. .PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Remain in suitable shelter, such as a hardened structure or cave, well-protected from tropical storm wind exposure. Do not leave shelter until instructed to do so by emergency management officials. Strong monsoon winds will likely persist after the passage of Tropical Storm Krosa. && .NEXT UPDATE... The next local statement will be issued at 3 PM ChST, or sooner if conditions warrant. ...AGRIHAN...PAGAN AND ALAMAGAN... ...A TROPICAL STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT... .PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Remain in a suitable hardened shelter, ideally a concrete structure or cave. Sufficient food and water for each person for a day or two should already be available, because a monsoon surge is likely to continue for a while after Tropical Storm Krosa has passed. .WIND INFORMATION... The latest forecast track shows Krosa turning generally north- northeastward through Sunday afternoon, passing to the west of Maug Saturday night, then turning slightly towards the north Sunday night. The passage of Krosa west of the islands will cause southeast winds to shift more southerly today, with widespread locally heavy showers. Latest forecast projections show southerly tropical storm winds of 40 to 50 mph are imminent or occurring at Agrihan, Pagan and Alamagan, gradually shifting from south to southwest today, then remaining out of the southwest as winds diminish through Sunday. Heavy showers will bring frequent stronger gusts. For islands further to the north, including Agrihan, strong tropical storm force winds of 50 to 60 mph will be possible at times through early Sunday morning. After the passage of TS Krosa, a strong southwest monsoon pattern will prolong windy conditions through Sunday night. .COASTAL INUNDATION AND SURF INFORMATION... Surf will continue to rise along south and west facing reefs today, well exceeding hazardous levels of 9 ft. Surf along these windward shores exceeding dangerous levels of 15 ft are expected today before peaking at 15 to 20 ft tonight. Surf will begin to subside Sunday, possibly falling below dangerous levels by Sunday night. Surf will likely remain at hazardous levels of 10 to 14 feet into early next week due to the persistent monsoon flow. Rip currents during this time will be strong and life threatening. Stay out of the water. Wind and wave-driven coastal inundation of 3 to 5 ft will be likely along windward shores, especially around times of high tide as surf reaches peak heights through Sunday. .OTHER STORM EFFECTS... Widespread locally heavy showers will increase through Sunday as TS Krosa passes to the west, with the bulk of rainfall expected through tonight. Additional rainfall accumulations of 4 to 8 inches are possible through Monday.
