A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Yap and Ulithi in Yap State. A Tropical Storm Watch means that tropical storm conditions, including winds of 39 mph or higher, are possible. .STORM INFORMATION... At 100 PM CHST...0300 UTC...the center of Tropical Depression Nuri was located near Latitude 10.4 degrees North and Longitude 136.9 degrees East. Nuri is moving southwest at 12 mph. However, the latest visible satellite imagery shows the circulation has become quasi-stationary. It is expected to make a turn toward the east-northeast with a decrease in forward speed through Thursday. .SITUATION OVERVIEW...When making decisions, don't focus on the exact forecast track. Tropical Depression Nuri (03W) has formed northwest of Yap and has become quasi-stationary. Nuri is forecast to strengthen to a tropical storm this evening or overnight as it begins to move east-northeast. It is too early to provide exact wind or surge forecast values. A general concern should be for the possibility of some damage somewhere in Yap or Ulithi. .PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
