NONE. .AREAS AFFECTED... This local statement provides information and recommended action for people on Yap and Ulithi, in Yap State. .WATCHES/WARNINGS... A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Yap and Ulithi in Yap State. A Tropical Storm Watch means that tropical storm conditions, including winds of 39 mph or higher, are possible. .STORM INFORMATION... At 100 AM CHST...1500 UTC...the center of Tropical Depression Nuri was located near Latitude 11.0 degrees North and Longitude 138.2 degrees East. Nuri is moving northeast at 10 mph. It is expected to maintain this general course with a slight increase in forward speed through Friday. .SITUATION OVERVIEW... When making decisions, don't focus on the exact forecast track. Tropical Depression Nuri (03W) is currently 105 miles north of Yap and is moving northeastward. Nuri is forecast to strengthen to a tropical storm tonight as it continues northeast. Yap and Ulithi will have at most peripheral exposure to damaging winds, just barely reaching gale force. A general concern should be for the possibility of some damage somewhere in Yap or Ulithi. .PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... For those under a watch, now is the time to initiate preparedness actions according to your tropical storm disaster plan. Listen for possible warnings and be ready to move to shelters if necessary.
