This local statement provides information and recommended action for people on Agrihan, Pagan, and Alamagan in the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. .WATCHES/WARNINGS... A Typhoon Warning remains in effect for Alamagan, Pagan, and Agrihan in the CNMI. .STORM INFORMATION... At 7 PM ChST...the center of Typhoon Sinlaku (04W) was located near latitude 20.3N, longitude 145.9E. This was about 475 miles north of Guam, 360 miles north of Saipan, and 110 miles north of Agrihan. Storm motion was northeast, 35 degrees, at 7 mph. Storm intensity was 90 mph. .SITUATION OVERVIEW... Typhoon Sinlaku continues to move through the far northern Mariana Islands. At 7 PM ChST this evening, Sinlaku was located near 20.3N and 145.9E, about 110 miles north of Agrihan and about 360 miles north of Saipan. It is now on the eastern side of the archipelago. Sinlaku is producing dense cloud cover and widespread showers over the far northern Marianas with weaker rainbands well to the south, across Guam, Rota, Tinian, and Saipan. Typhoon Sinlaku is moving northeast at 8 mph and is expected to make a turn toward the north-northeast with a slight increase in forward speed over the next couple of days. As Sinlaku continues to push north-northeastward, tropical storm force winds continue at Alamagan and Pagan through late tonight or early Saturday morning and through Saturday morning at Agrihan. Sinlaku is forecast to continue to weaken over the next couple of days, possibly becoming extratropical Sunday. .PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... For those under a warning in the far northern Mariana Islands of Alamagan, Pagan, and Agrihan, preparations for the protection of life and property should have already been completed. People should be in a designated hardened shelter. Remain in shelter until the "all clear" is given. Stay inside and away from windows. Do not venture outside when high winds are occurring as flying debris can easily cause serious injury. Closely monitor NOAA weather radio or other local news outlets for official storm information.
