A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect for Faraulep in Yap State. A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect for Woleai and Satawal in Yap State. A Tropical Storm Warning means that tropical storm conditions, including damaging winds of 39 to 73 mph, are expected within the next 24 hours. A Tropical Storm Watch means that tropical storm conditions are possible within the next 48 hours. .STORM INFORMATION... At 10 AM ChST, the center of Tropical Depression 05W was located near Latitude 7.2N, Longitude 146.8E. This was about 20 miles southwest of Satawal, 185 miles east-southeast of Faraulep, and 200 miles east of Woleai in Yap State. 05W is moving west at 8 mph. It is expected to maintain this general course with a slight increase in forward speed through Thursday as it moves across eastern Yap State. Maximum sustained winds are 35 mph. 05W is forecast to intensify through tonight, possibly becoming a tropical storm this afternoon. .SITUATION OVERVIEW... Tropical Depression 05W formed northeast of Satawal earlier this morning, and looks to maintain a westward trek across eastern Yap State through at least tonight, making a gradual turn to the west- northwest on Thursday as it passes north of Woleai. 05W remains just below tropical storm strength, but looks to steadily intensify this afternoon, potentially becoming a tropical storm in just the next few hours.
