Heavy rainfall will continue across east central Georgia today with an additional 1 to 3 inches today and storm total amounts up to 8 inches. Flooding and flash flooding remain possible. High water levels and flooding along rivers in the area is expected continue or worsen for the next several days. A Flood watch remains in effect through 8 PM EDT. The Tropical Storm warning remains in effect for Montgomery and Toombs county. Tropical Storm force wind gusts will be possible this afternoon, and are expected to diminish after sunset. POTENTIAL IMPACTS ----------------- * FLOODING RAIN: Potential impacts from the flooding rain are still unfolding across east central Georgia. Remain well guarded against flood waters having additional extensive impacts. If realized, these impacts include: - Major rainfall flooding may prompt many evacuations and rescues. - Rivers and tributaries may rapidly overflow their banks in multiple places. Small streams, creeks, canals, arroyos, and ditches may become dangerous rivers. Flood control systems and barriers may become stressed. - Flood waters can enter structures within multiple communities. Many places where flood waters may cover escape routes. Streets and parking lots become rivers of moving water with underpasses submerged. Driving conditions become dangerous. Many road and bridge closures with some weakened or washed out. Potential impacts from the flooding rain are still unfolding across portions of east central Georgia. Remain well guarded against flood waters having additional impacts. Elsewhere across North and Central Georgia, little to no impact is anticipated. * WIND: Potential impacts from the main wind event are now unfolding across east central. Remain well sheltered from hazardous wind having limited impacts. If realized, these impacts include: - Damage to porches, awnings, carports, sheds, and unanchored mobile homes. Unsecured lightweight objects blown about. - Many large tree limbs broken off. A few trees snapped or uprooted, but with greater numbers in places where trees are shallow rooted. Some fences and roadway signs blown over. - A few roads impassable from debris, particularly within urban or heavily wooded places. Hazardous driving conditions on bridges and other elevated roadways. - Scattered power and communications outages. Elsewhere across North and Central Georgia, little to no impact is anticipated. * TORNADOES: Little to no impacts are anticipated at this time across North and Central Georgia.
