On 15 October at 00:12 UTC an earthquake of magnitude 7.1 at a depth of 20 km hit Bohol island (Central Visayas). The epicentre was located near Catigbian (Bohol Province). No significant tsunami risk was posed by this earthquake, JRC calculations indicate a max. height of around 0.3 m in Guindulman.
As of 1:55 UTC , there were already 110 aftershocks some with magnitude up to 6.
As of early 15 October, the Office of Civil Defense reported 20 people killed and 33 injured, several buildings damaged and power outages.
The AHA centre informed that an assessment is on going to understand the extent of the damage.
