Nicaragua - Earthquake

On 10 April, at 23.27 UTC, an earthquake of magnitude 6.1 M, 13 km deep hit Nicaragua. The epicenter was located approx. 10 km west of Valle San Francisco and 44 km north-northwest of the capital Managua. USGS-PAGER indicates shaking up to "Severe" for approx. 4 000 people and "Very Strong" for 5 000 people. Aftershocks followed the event, including one of magnitude 4.3 M and another one of magnitude 5.1 M.
As of early 11 April (UTC), local media reported at least 23 people injured in the municipality of Nagarote (Leon Department), approx. 800 homes partially or severely damaged (700 in Nagarote, 97 in Mateare, two in Managua) and power outages. A landslide in the area south of Managua was reported.
