Guatemala, Mexico - Earthquake

An earthquake of magnitude 6.9 M (GDACS, USGS) at the depth of 94 km hit the department of San Marcos on 14 June at 7.29 (UTC). It affected south-western Guatemala.
As of 15 June at 7.00 UTC, national authorities report that two people have died (one in Retalhuleu, Retalhuleu department and one in Malacatan, San Marcos department), five people were injured, 330 people were affected and several buildings were damaged in the departments of San Marcos, Quetzaltenango, Suchitepequez and Retalhuleu. A number of landslides also occurred on the roads of Atlantic and Retalhuleu.
CONRED (National Coordinator for Natural Disaster Risk Reduction) has declared an Orange Alert for earthquakes in the departments of San Marcos, Quetzaltenango, Suchitepequez and Retalhuleu. The assessment of damages is ongoing.
