Here we combine geophysical data and numerical tsunami modelling to investigate the source and mechanism responsible for this event.

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake took place early Wednesday morning in Davao Occidental, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs). Phivolcs chief Renato Solidum Jr. told The Manila Times the quake that occurred around 4:26 a.m. was tectonic in origin.
