Event. A magnitude-5.3 earthquake occurred in the Ceram Sea at 11:42 June 24. The epicenter was approximately 143 km (89 miles) north-northwest of Ambon, Indonesia. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 32 km (20 miles), and light shaking was probably felt throughout northern Maluku, southern North Maluku, and far western West Papua .
