  • Following the passage of typhoon YUTU (named "Rosita" in the Philippines) over northern Luzon on 30 October 2018, national authorities report 199 529 people temporarily evacuated, of which 110 975 people are hosted in 1 224 evacuation centres (as of 5 November). In addition,855 houses are totally damaged, 7 049 houses are partially damaged and 254 454 people are affected across central and northern Luzon as well as eastern Visayas.

  • Typhoon YUTU ("Rosita" in the Philippines) continued west over northern Luzon and the South China Sea, weakening.  On 31 October at 0.00 UTC its centre was located inland approx. 265 km north-west of San Fernando City, with maximum sustained winds of 102 km/h (tropical storm). It is forecast to continue north-west, slightly strengthening. Light to moderate rain could affect western sections of northern and central Luzon on 31 October - 1 November.
  • As of 31 October, 50 628 are affected and 48 969 people have been evacuated (of which 39 822 are housed in 713 evacuation centres). Some coastal communities are only accessible by sea and roads are inaccessible in Pigalo, Gucab and Annafunan, City of Ilagan, Sta. Maria, and Sto. Tomas. The worst hit areas so far are Isabela, Dinapigue, Santiago, Echague, Jones, Cauayan, and Maconacon.
  • UN OCHA asked PINGON (the Philippines International NGO Network) to conduct initial assessments, some of which are already underway. The local disaster management offices (DRRM), particularly Cagayan Valley DRRM Council and Cordillera Administrative Region DRRM Council, have actively led the coordination in their respective areas of operation.

  • Typhoon YUTU ("Rosita" in the Philippines) made landfall close to Dilasag Town (northern Luzon) on evening of 29 October UTC, with maximum sustained winds of 150-160 km/h. Heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surge affected central and northern Luzon. On 30 October at 0.00 UTC its centre was located inland approx. 10 km north of Santiago City, with maximum sustained winds of 148 km/h.
  • It is forecast to continue inland west-north-west before weakening as it moves into the South Sea. Heavy rain, strong winds and storm surge could affect northern Luzon on 30-31 October.
  • The Tropical Cyclone Warning Signal No. 3 for Stormy Weather remains in effect for northern Luzon.
  • This is the second such typhoon to affect the area in the last six weeks.

  • Following its passage over the Northern Mariana Islands as an intense typhoon, YUTU ("Rosita" in the Philippines) weakened as it continued west. On 29 October at 0.00 UTC its centre was located approx. 440 km east of Dilasag Town (Central Luzon Region, Philippines), with maximum sustained winds of 167 km/h (typhoon).
  • It is forecast to make landfall late in the afternoon of 30 October, close to Dilasag and Casiguran towns with projected maximum sustained winds of 130-157 km/h. Heavy rain, strong winds and storm surge could affect central and northern Luzon over 29-30 October.
  • As of 29 October, a tropical cyclone warning Signal No. 3 is in effect for stormy weather over Luzon Island.
  • One person was reportedly killed and 133 people injured on Saipan Island (the Northern Mariana Islands) following YUTU's passage. Damage was also sustained to buildings and power lines.

  • As of 25 October, a typhoon warning remain in effect for Tinian and Saipan Islands.
