  • Tropical Cyclone NAKRI's centre was approximately 450 km west of Mindoro Island (Philippines), and 750 km east of Binh Dinh Province (Vietnam) on 6 November at 0.00 UTC, with maximum sustained winds of 56 km/h (tropical depression).
  • NAKRI is forecast to move west towards Vietnam, further intensifying to a tropical storm and bringing heavy rain over the eastern Philippines, from Babuyan to Palawan Islands to south central and south-east Vietnam on 6-7 November.
  • South and central regions of Vietnam were affected by Tropical Cyclone MATMO's passage on 1 November, which resulted in one death, injured 14 and caused widespread damage to buildings.

  • Tropical Cyclone NAKRI remained almost stationary in South China Sea. On 7 November its centre was located approximately 300 km west of Lubang Island (Philippines), and approximately 850 km east of Binh Dinh Province (Vietnam), with maximum sustained winds of 83 km/h.
  • On 7-8 November, NAKRI is expected to move west over South China Sea, and towards the coast of Vietnam, slightly intensifying.
  • Moderate rainfall are forecast over eastern Philippines, from Babuyan Islands to Palawan Islands, while rainfall, with thunderstorms and strong winds will affect central and southeastern Vietnam over the next 24 hours.

  • Tropical Cyclone NAKRI remained almost stationary over South China Sea, well off the coast of western Luzon (Philippines). On 8 November at 0:00 UTC its centre was located approximately 830 km east of Phu Yen Province (central-southern Vietnam), with maximum sustained winds of 110 km/h.
  • NAKRI is forecast to continue moving west toward central-southern Vietnam, slighty strenghtening, and it could make landfall over Phu Yen Province on 10 November in the afternoon (UTC), with maximum sustained winds up to 95 km/h.
  • Very heavy rainfall, strong winds and storm surges are forecast over central-southern Vietnam, as well as over north-eastern Cambodia on 8-10 November.

  • Tropical Cyclone NAKRI made landfall on 10 November approximately 27 km in the south of Tuy Hòa (Phu Yen Province, south-central Vietnam) and continued north-west towards Cambodia weakening to a tropical depression. 
  • According to media reports, at least 100,000 people have been preventively evacuated and 60,000 houses are without power in Vietnam. Schools in the Khanh Hoa, Phu Yen, Binh Dinh and Quang Ngai provinces are closed on 11 November. 
  • The storm will bring heavy rain to Thua Thien-Hue to Binh Thuan provinces and the Central Highlands. 
  • NAKRI also brought heavy rain and caused widespread floods and landslides to the north-east Philippines (Cagayan province, north Luzon).
  • According to the Philippine's National Disaster Risk Reduction and management Council (NDRRMC), 6 people died and 3 were injured. 4,223 people have been displaced and 92,285 affected. At least 7 houses have been damaged, and 46 roads and 16 bridges closed.
  • Light to moderate rain will continue to affect northern Luzon that risks delaying the return of over 5,700 displaced people.
