  • Tropical Cyclone ESTHER formed over the Gulf of Carpentaria (northern Australia) on 23 February, moving south towards the Northern Territory and Queensland. On 24 February at 0.00 UTC, its centre was approximately 21 km north-east of the coastal Northern Territory/Queensland border, with maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h (tropical storm).
  • ESTHER is expected to make landfall on 24 February in the morning as a tropical storm before weakening and dissipating on 25 February.
  • Heavy rain, strong winds and storm surge are expected over the next 24 hours, with a warning for gales in effect.
