  • On 16 May, a new Tropical Cyclone named ARTHUR formed over the North Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Florida (USA) and started moving north-east over the Ocean. On 18 May at 6.00 UTC its centre was located offshore approximately 195 km south-east of the coastal border area between South Carolina and North Carolina, with maximum sustained winds up to 75 km/h.
  • Over the next 24 hours, ARTHUR is forecast to continue moving north-east along the coast of North Carolina, with maximum sustained winds up to 100 km/h. On the forecast track, it is expected to turn eastward over the Ocean on 19-20 May, well off the coast of North Carolina and Virginia, and to pass north of Bermuda on 21 May.  
  • Heavy rain and strong winds are forecast over North Carolina on 18-19 May. NOAA has issued a Tropical Storm Warning over northern coastal area of North Carolina.

  • Tropical Cyclone ARTHUR continued north-east off the coast of the Carolinas (USA). On 19 May at 3.00 UTC, its centre was approximately 320 km east of Virginia Beach (Virginia), with maximum sustained winds up to 93 km/h.
  • ARTHUR will continue east, passing close to Bermuda on 21 May, with maximum sustained winds of 65 km/h.
  • Heavy rain and strong winds are forecast over the Carolinas and on the Virginia and Pennsylvania coast over the next 24 hours.
