  • Tropical Storm HANNA, formed over the Gulf of Mexico and moved west-northwest towards the southern coast of Texas. On 24 July, its centre was located approximately 367 km south-west of Houma City (Louisiana State), with maximum sustained wind of 65 km/h (tropical storm).
  • HANNA is forecast to continue west-northwestward across the northwestern Gulf of Mexico, strengthening. It will make landfall along the southern Texas coast on 25 July, with maximum sustained wind up to 100 km/h.
  • On 24-25 July, heavy rain and strong wind are expected over the Gulf coast from Louisiana to southern Texas. Moderate to heavy rain is expected across the Mexican States of Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, and northern Tamaulipas.
  • A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from the Delta of Rio Grande to San Luis Pass Texas.

  • On 25 July, HANNA made landfall on Padre Island, 53 km south-southeast of Corpus Christi City (southern Texas) as a category 1 hurricane and moved south-west towards north-east Mexico, weakening. On 27 July, its centre was located 172 km south-west of Monterrey City (Nuevo León State, Mexico), with maximum sustained wind of 45 km/h (tropical depression).
  • HANNA is forecast to weaken as it moves inland and becomes a remnant low over the next hours.
  • According to media, widespread floods have been reported over southern Texas and north-eastern Mexico. In Texas, 250,000 people remained without power and the authorities issued disaster declarations in 32 counties. 
  • Heavy rain is expected over southern Texas, northern Mexican States of Coahuila, Nuevo Leon, Tamaulipas, and Luis Potosi, and eastern Durango. Flash floods and flooding' warnings have been issued across the aforementioned States.
