  • Tropical Cyclone SALLY  is moving north-west over the Gulf of Mexico.   On 14 September, its centre was located 178 km south-east of the Mississippi Delta with maximum sustained wind of 93 km/h (tropical storm).
  • SALLY is forecast to continue over the Gulf of Mexico today, to approach the northern Gulf Coast area as a Category 1 hurricane on 15 September and to move over the south-western coast of Mississippi on 15-16 September.
  • For the next 24 hours, heavy rain, strong wind and storm surge are forecast over most parts of central-northern Gulf Coast area.
  • A  Storm Surge Warning is in effect from Port Fourchon (Louisiana) to the Alabama/Florida border, for Lake Pontchartrain, Lake Maurepas, Lake Borgne and Mobile Bay. A Hurricane Warning from Morgan City (Louisiana) to the Mississippi/Alabama border, for Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas including New Orleans.
  • A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued from Mississippi/Alabama border to Indian Pass Florida and from Intracoastal City to west of Morgan City (Louisiana).

  • Hurricane SALLY continues to northwest over the northern Gulf of Mexico. On 15 September, its centre was located 110 km east-southeast of the Mississippi Delta.
  • SALLY will move close to the coast of southeastern Louisiana on 15 September, and make landfall between the southeastern coast of Louisiana and the southern coast of Alabama on 16 September as a Category 2 hurricane.
  • For the next 24 hours, heavy rain, strong wind and storm surge are forecast over most parts of the coastal area of Louisiana, Mississippi and Alabama.  
  • A  Storm Surge Warning is in effect from Port Fourchon (Louisiana) to the Okaloosa/Walton County Line (Florida), for Lake Pontchartrain, Lake Maurepas, Lake Borgne and Mobile Bay. A Hurricane Warning from Grand Isle Louisiana to the Navarre (Florida), for Lake Pontchartrain and Lake Maurepas including New Orleans.
  • A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued from east of Navarre to Indian Pass (Florida) and from west of Grand Isle to Morgan City (Louisiana). Several counties in Mississippi and Louisiana are under a mandatory evacuation order.

  • Hurricane SALLY is moving north over the northern Gulf of Mexico as a Category 2 hurricane. On 16 September at 6.30 UTC, its centre was located 95 km south-southeast of Mobile (Alabama) and 90 km south-west of Pensacola (Florida) with maximum sustained winds of 165 km/h. SALLY is forecast to make landfall in the morning of 16 September, close to Gulf Shores, in a coastal area between the border of Alabama and Florida, with maximum sustained winds between 165-175 km/h.
  • More than 150,000 individuals have experienced power outages along the Gulf Coast in Alabama, Mississippi and Florida, while and property damage has already been reported in some areas of Mobile City (Alabama). Mandatory evacuations have been ordered for much of the coast and low-lying areas from Mississippi to Florida.
  • A hurricane warning is in effect for areas from Gulf Port (Mississippi) to Fort Walton Beach (Florida). Storm surge warning, and tropical storm warning have been issued for coastal areas from Mississippi Delta to western Florida Panhandle.
  • For the next 24 hours, heavy rain, strong wind and storm surge are forecast over most parts along the coastal area from Alabama to western Florida Panhandle. Flash floods due to rainfall are forecast along the coast from Alabama/Mississippi border to Florida Panhandle.

  • After making landfall near Gulf Shores (Alabama) in the morning of 16 September as a Category 2 hurricane, SALLY is moving inland, weakening and becoming a tropical depression.  On 17 September at 3.00, its centre was located 50 km south of Montgomery City (Alabama), with maximum sustained wind of 56 km/h.
  • According to media, one person died and another is missing in Orange Beach (Alabama), and damaged houses and roads by flooding ha been reported across coastal Alabama and Florida, including Mobile, and Pensacola cities.
  • Hundreds of residents were rescued, and more than 500,000 individuals experienced power outages in Alabama, and Florida. State of emergency were declared for Alabama, Florida and Mississippi.
  • SALLY is forecast to continue north-east across Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina as a tropical depression, dissipating in the morning of 18 September, after reaching southern North Carolina.
  • Flash flood warnings have been issued for central Alabama, northern and central Georgia.
