  • The newly formed Tropical Depression EIGHTEEN (locally known in the Philippines as "JOLINA"), is moving north-westwards over the Philippine Sea, towards the eastern coast of central Philippines. On 6 September at 0.00 UTC, its center was located about 180 km south-east of the south-eastern tip of Samar Island, with maximum sustained winds of 56 km/h.
  • In the early morning of 7 September, EIGHTEEN is forecast to strengthen to a Tropical Storm, while moving northwards, along the coast eastern coast of Samar Island and the central-eastern Philippines.
  • A Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal 1 has been issued for central-eastern Philippines, including Sorsogon (Luzon), Samar (Visayas) and Bucas Grande Islands (Mindao). Moderate to heavy rain and strong winds are forecast over most of the central-eastern Philippines.

  • Tropical Cyclone CONSON (named JOLINA in the Philippines), made landfall over Samar Island on 6 September and is crossing Masbate Island. On 7 September at 8.00 UTC, its centre was located about 22 km northwest of Cataingan City (Masbate Province), with maximum sustained winds of 120 km/h.
  • According to media reports, power outages were reported in Eastern Samar, Samar and Leyte Provinces.
  • CONSON is forecast to move northwest and approach central Luzon Island on 8 September passing very close to the capital Manila. After that, on 9 September it will move over the South China Sea towards Hainan Island (southern China).
  • A tropical cyclone wind signal number 3 (destructive typhoon-force winds prevailing or expected within 18 hours), is in effect for most parts of Masbate Island, central-southern Luzon and the eastern Visayas, including the Provinces of Quezon, Masbate, Albay and Samar.
  • For the next 24 hours, heavy rain and strong winds are forecast over Masbate Island, central-southern Luzon and eastern Visayas (particularly Samar Island).

  • Tropical Cyclone CONSON (named JOLINA in the Philippines), passed over Masbate and Marinduque islands on 7 September and is crossing Calabarzon Region. On 8 September at 5.00 UTC, its centre was located about 15 km northwest of Lemery (Batangas Province) and very close to the Taal volcano. CONSON moves northwest passing very close to the capital, Metro Manila on 8 September morning with heavy to torrential rain.
  • Widespread floods and landslides have been reported across Central Luzon, Bicol, Western Visayas, Central Visayas, Eastern Visayas, Calabarzon and Mimaropa.
  • According to the ASEAN Disaster information network (ADINet), 12 people are missing, 10,976 have been displaced and 12,213 affected. The local government units assess the damages and impact. Initial reports show power outage, road blockages and 25 damaged shelters.
  • Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal Number 2 (Damaging gale-force to storm-force winds prevailing or expected within 24 hours), is in effect for most parts of central-southern Luzon and Mindoro Island.
  • DG ECHO partners, who are present in the affected provinces, continue to monitor the situation of the affected population.

  • Tropical Cyclone CONSON (named "Jolina" in the Philippines), is moving westward over the South China Sea after it crossed central Luzon on 8 September. On 9 September at 2.00 UTC, its centre was located about 180 km west of the coast of Zambales Province (western Luzon) and approximately 900 km south-east of southern Hainan Island (China) with maximum sustained winds of 85 km/h (tropical storm).
  • According to media reports, nine people have died and nine others are still missing in Eastern Visayas Region. In addition, the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD-DROMIC) reports 13,672 displaced and 61,565 affected people across the Regions of Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas and Eastern Visayas.
  • CONSON is forecast to strengthen as it continues westward and it could approach southern coast of Hainan Island on 12-13 September.
  • For the next  24  hours,  light to moderate rain with at times heavy rain are forecast over central-western Luzon, Palawan, Western Visayas and the Zamboanga Peninsula.

  • Tropical Cyclone CONSON ("Jolina" in the Philippines) passed over central-southern Luzon on 8 September as a tropical storm and currently is moving westward over the South China Sea. On 10 September at 0.00 UTC, its centre was located approximately 460 km east of the coast of Da Nang and Thua Thien-Hue Provinces (central Vietnam) with maximum sustained winds of 83 km/h (tropical storm).
  • The Philippines Department of Social Welfare and Development (DROMIC DSWD) reports nearly 18,800 displaced people (of which around 14,200 across 304 evacuation centres), over 5,450 damaged houses and a total of more than 99,500 affected people across Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Calabarzon, Mimaropa, Bicol, Western Visayas and Eastern Visayas Regions.
  • CONSON is forecast to slightly strengthen and it is expected to make landfall over central Vietnam on 12 September. After that it is forecast to continue over central-southern Laos on 13-14 September, weakening.
  • Over the next  24  hours,  more heavy rain with locally very heavy rain is forecast over the whole Philippines, most of Vietnam and Laos.
