Tropical Cyclone Faxai, Japan, September 2019Tropical Cyclone Faxai made landfall near Chiba City, east of Tokyo, Japan, on 08 September. Powerful winds caused major damages in parts of Kanagawa, Shizuoka, Chiba and Tokyo prefectures. Media reported 3 fatalities, including 1 in Tokyo, 1 in Otaki Town (Chiba Prefecture) and 1 in Kanagawa Prefecture. Fifty people have been injured. Around 930,000 households experienced power outages.

Much of the damage caused by Faxai was a result of the strong winds, although some heavy rain was reported, resulting in urban flooding in Tokyo and other areas. Storm surge flooded port areas in Yokohama.
