San Martín, Peru, March 2021Heavy rain caused flooding in parts of San Martín region of Peru from 16 March. Indeci reported damage to homes prompting some evacuations in Rioja Province. Around 400 people were affected by floods in Moyobamba Province from 21 March. Indeci reported flooding in Tingo de Ponasa District, Picota province on 24 March. 15 people were displaced after 4 houses were destroyed. A further 68 people were affected and 20 homes damaged. Also on 24 March, flooding from the overflowing Mayo river damaged 25 homes in the district of Tabalosos, Lamas province. On 26 March the Sisa River overflowed, causing damage to homes in Panama in the district of San Rafael, province of Bellavista. 26 houses were damaged and 88 people displaced. Indeci also reported heavy rain caused a landslide in Lucero, Soritor district, province of Moyobamba on 27 March. 7 houses were damaged and 33 people displaced. On 29 March, flooding affected parts of Calzada district, Moyobamba province after the Tonchima River broke its banks. 45 homes were damaged. Also on 29 March heavy rain caused the overflow o the Mayo River, damaging homes and a bridge in the district of Yantaló, province of Moyobamba.
