Storm Gyda, Norway and Sweden, January 2022Heavy rain from Storm Gyda caused a landslide and flooding in Norway on 12 January 2022. A landslide at a construction site has caused 16 homes (37 people) to be evacuated at Sjøholt in Ålesund municipality. In Eresfjord in Molde municipality, the Dokkelva River was rising dangerously and 44 people were evacuated from their homes. Roads closed or partially closed due to flooding in Molde, Gjemnes, Volda, Verdal, Orkland. Meteorological Institute said Meråker received the entire precipitation normal for January in 24 hours to 13 January. Several other places have about 70% of normal January precipitation.
