  • Heavy rainfall affected several parts of Cuba on 2-3 June (including the provinces of Havana, Pinar del Río, Artemisa, Sancti Spíritus, and Matanzas and also the island municipality of Isla de la Juventud), causing floods and flash floods, and resulting in casualties and damage.
  • According to media reports, three people died (two in the Province of Havana and another in Pinar del Rio Province), and one is still missing. In addition, 2,300 people have been evacuated in Havana Province, while at least 4,480 people were displaced in Pinar del Río Province.
  • For the next 24 hours, moderate to heavy rainfall is forecast over most parts of the country, particularly over central and western Cuba.

  • Heavy rain has affected Matanzas Province (central-western Cuba) on 7-8 June, causing floods and resulting in evacuations and damage.
  • According to WHO Pan American Health Organization (PAHO), 5,171 people have been evacuated and 562 houses affected following the flood events.
  • On 2-3 June, the Provinces of Havana, Pinar del Río, Artemisa, Sancti Spíritus, and Matanzas have been hit by the recent tropical cyclone activity resulting in at least three fatalities and thousands of displaced people.
  • On 9-10 June, moderate to heavy rain with localized thunderstorms is forecast across most parts of the Country.
Caribbean and Southern USA, June 2022Cuba Civil Defence reported fatalities after heavy rainfall caused flash flooding in Cuba on 03 June 2022. 2 people died in the province of Havana and one person was missing, later found dead in Pinar del Río. INSMET reported widespread flooding including in areas of Pinar del Río, Sancti Spíritus and in the Isla de la Juventud Special Municipality. Cuba news agency ACN reported flooding and weather-related damage in Havana. Sixty homes were damaged, and 2,300 people evacuated.
