  • Since 24 May, heavy rainfall as been hitting nine Provinces of Algeria (Algiers, Blida, Tébessa, Oum El Bouaghi, Tipaza, Boumerdes, El Tarf, Batna and Guelma) causing floods and resulting in casualties and damage.
  • According to media reports, two three people died, of whom one in Guelma Province (north-eastern Algeria) due to a flood event, second another in Tipaza Province (northern Algeria) and the third in Tissemssilt following a severe weather-related incident.
  • Several people have been evacuated and dozens have been rescued across the affected Province; houses were damaged or destroyed, roads flooded and transport severely disrupted.
  • For the next 14 hours, moderate rain is forecast over most parts of northern and north-eastern Algeria.

  • Heavy rainfall has been affecting northern Algeria, in particular the Saïda and Laghouat Provinces since early June, causing floods that have resulted in casualties and damage.
  • According to media, as of 6 June, six people died, of which four across the Saïda and two in the Laghouat Province. In addition, media also report a number of unconfirmed missing and injured people as well as uncertain material damage in both Provinces.
  • Over the next 24 hours, drier conditions are forecast over most of the country.
