  • An earthquake of 6.0 M at a depth of 10 km (6.3 M as reported by  Indonesian authorities) occurred over the Makassar Strait very close to the north-western coast of Central Sulawesi Province of Sulawesi Island on 9 September at 14.43 UTC (22.43 local time). The epicentre was located in the sea approximately 15 km south-east of Sipoeroe Town, Central Sulawesi Province.
  • USGS PAGER estimates that up to 11,000 people were exposed to very strong shaking and up to 54,000 people to strong shaking.
  • According to the ASEAN Disaster Information Network (ADINet), almost 3,000 people have been displaced, more than 7,200 were affected, and 12 houses have been damaged as well as a public building in the Regencues of Donggala and Parigi Moutong.
  • National authorities are conducting monitoring, assessment, and data collection.
