Event. A magnitude-5.5 offshore earthquake occurred in the South Pacific Ocean east of New Caledonia at around 12:58 May 15. The epicenter was about 232 km (144 miles) east of Tadine. The tremor occurred at a depth of about 20 km (12 miles)
